The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to embark on their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as important members in the influential clan could assist the party reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in search of the antagonist.
