NFL Round Five Action: Texans vs Ravens and More Games

Live NFL Coverage

Welcome, football enthusiasts! Join us for the fifth week of the NFL season, as I provide live coverage from the first matchups. It's a convenient mid-morning start on the west coast at 10:00 AM (PST), extending to an early evening 6:00 PM (BST) in jolly old England. Recently, the Vikings fought back to beat the Cleveland Browns by four points due to a 12-yard receiver TD reception with just 25 seconds left at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Vikings move to 3-2, while Cleveland drop to one win and four losses. Today's slate is already off and running.

We have a solid lineup of six matchups to cover:

  • Ravens v Houston Texans

  • Panthers v Miami Dolphins

  • Colts against Raiders

  • New Orleans Saints vs Giants

  • Jets v Dallas Cowboys

  • Eagles vs Broncos

Featured Battle: Eagles Face Denver

A highlight contest is unfolding in Philly with the unbeaten reigning champions hosting from Denver. On paper, you might expect an easy win, but a brief look reveals reports doubting whether the Eagles are the least impressive undefeated squad in history. Who knows. What we do know, is they have enjoyed some luck on special teams with three blocked kicks, one of which earned a victory against the Rams. A crucial factor will be how Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph dials up his linebackers to stop Philadelphia’s versatile QB Jalen Hurts from marauding down the field. If they can make them throw, then a statement win might result for the Broncos, now with two wins and two losses, which would make many analysts, including me, who said the Broncos would overthrow the Chiefs in the division feeling a little happier.

Other Matchups to Follow

Elsewhere, a number of teams with single victories are eager to edge closer to .500 with a win, or right on the button in the case of the Cowboys after their wild high-scoring draw with Green Bay has them at 1-2-1. Their visit to the New Jersey to face the winless New York Jets should do the trick as they look to keep the scoring outbursts going between QB Prescott and wide receiver Pickens. In the long run, top receiver Lamb's injury might benefit the Cowboys as Pickens’ increased role since will have accelerated his development, making the attack stronger when Lamb does return. Currently, the Jets’ defense needs to be alert and then some to avoid a sorry slip to zero wins and five losses.

Baltimore Take On Houston in Surprising Clash

Two of unexpected teams with one win and three losses meet in Baltimore as the banged-up Baltimore Ravens are guided into action with the Houston Texans by back-up quarterback Rush. In this fixture last season, we saw Beyoncé’s amazing half-time show bookended by the Texans suffering a horrendous 31-2 loss at their stadium on Christmas Day, followed by a 34-10 whipping in the postseason a few weeks after at Baltimore. However, in the absence of the injured award-winning Jackson on the field, who passed for multiple scores, scored three scores, and racked up 507 total yards in the two thrashings, the Texans' defense will be prepared.
